For most web projects, there is often a deadline to meet. This can be a tradeshow, major product release, or rebranding. This usually means there is a deadline to release it to the public that has been coordinated with IT, marketing, and sales so all communication channels are coordinated.
With that deadline, there should be a focus on getting everyone on board and in agreement with project goals. The timeline for a project dictates the level of coordination needed among all stakeholders.
Find Your Priorities
While it is good to have a deadline, too little time to prepare a large project can mean a drop in quality. Quality plays a huge role in long-term growth and product adaptability, so it's best to prioritize certain features above others or alter the timeline if possible to avoid releasing a low quality product.
- Can the deadline be changed to accomodate must-have features?
- Can some features be postponed to a later round of development in order to meet the deadline?
These are key questions to ask at the beginning of a project if the deadline is a challenge. Once everyone agrees on releasing a quality product, the right plan can be put in place to make the project a success.
